A number of Chamber board members attended the Treaty briefing given by the Government at Grand Battery House on 4th February.
The Chief Minister publicly recognised the extensive list of questions which the Chamber had submitted on behalf of its members seeking clarity on the changes to customs, import procedures and other critical matters relating to goods which will be brought about by the Treaty.
We welcome the Government’s initiative to hold an open forum for questions and believe that the contribution of questions by members in advance will serve to inform a large proportion of our members and the wider business community. It is sincerely hoped that by addressing these concerns it will help to avoid disruption as much as possible during the anticipated April 2026 transition.
The range of questions put to the Government by members indicates the high level of business uncertainty, driven primarily by practical implementation concerns.
The Chamber would like to publicly thank the Government for their quick turnaround on providing written responses to the many questions posed.
A copy of the slide presentation which was given by the Attorney General during the briefing on specific changes to customs procedures along with timelines and changes to duty and excise rates will be circulated to members when we receive it.
If you have any specific questions which you would like the Chamber to address, please contact the Chamber on 200 78376 or by email to info@gibraltarchamberofcommerce.com
We will circulate further relevant information on the Treaty as and when it becomes available.
